Vocal Point Concert- Ahhh Yeah!!!

Andrew had to attend a concert for his choir class. So we chose a Vocal Point concert. Wow! That was a great choice for us. It kept the kids entertained for almost 2 solid hours. Some of the highlights were the Beatbox battle, (the director has a 3 year old son who joined in –he was really good), the sports theme medley, Crazy ABC’s, 12 days of Christmas… even though those were our favorites, the rest of the songs were amazing too. The group is comprised of 9 male BYU students who sing a capella and do vocal percussion (beatbox)…they were also incredibly funny. We loved the little stories they shared with us in between songs. We’d recommend this to anyone and we are going again for sure! :o) The kids had so much fun – even Natalie was entertained - she loved hearing “Once there was a Snowman” in the middle of the songs.

We loved the music so much that we bought 4 Vocal Point cd's. The music is clean, upbeat and uplifting, so we listen to it in the car when we go on a drive. We have all been practicing our beat box skills too. It's pretty funny :o)

Hadlock Halloween 2009

Halloween was fun this year. We were only out for an hour, but it was perfect because we didn't get too cold. Natalie insisted on wearing plastic high heels, so she wouldn't have lasted too long if the kids had wanted more candy. Halloween costumes were easy this year....we have a millon costumes from years past so I wish the kids would use them, but only 1 did. Nate decided he wanted to be ghost...a run of the mill white sheet ghost. Jessica decided to be a golfer. Everybody called her "Tiger Woods" she had no idea who that was. Nicole was a sandwich - which turned out great, and was so easy. It costed about 15 bucks and we got everything from Walmart. Natalie was a princess and Drew wore his Scream mask with gangster clothing. I guess he was a "gangster ghoul"!

Prayer at the wailing wall

Dave has been in Israel for 10 loooonnnngggg days. Surprisingly, this has been one of the easiest times me and the kids have had without him here to help. I've felt mostly in control of our schedule, especially with with bedtimes and activities.... I 've also felt patient and not as as overwhelmed as usual.

I got an email from him a few days ago and he told me that he left a prayer for me in the cracks of the wailing wall. It made me feel special to know that there is a prayer in Jerusalem that is just for me. What a thoughtful thing that I would have never asked for. He gets home tomorrow. I am so glad!
No more trips this year, so you won't hear much wailing from me:o)

Bear Lake

Natalie with a bucket of wet sandNicole sifting through shells
The whole gang and the sand castle we built
Grandpa and the kids on the banana ready to go!
Our KOA cabin...or as Natalie calls it-"our little house"

So let me back track a little... and tell about our summer. Bear Lake was our biggest vacation this summer... the kids look forward to it every year. For me, Bear Lake is irony at its best. Why, you ask? I am afraid of bears and I am afraid of large open bodies of water. I hate having these fears...especially since Dave's family is a camping, boating, waterskiing, swimming family...
So why the fear of bears? Well, I have found out that ever since I became a Mama bear myself, I am more likely to fear things I can't defend my family against. A bears weigh too much for me to take him out, they run faster, they can climb trees...etc. I just feel like I have no chance against a bear. When I was in Young Womens all the talk about bears at Girl's camp freaked me out so bad. I had one of the other leaders put all of our garbage in their car so it wouldn't attract the bears. Right about this time, I also happened to be reading the Bible and read the story in 2nd Kings 2:24 where the 2 she-bears come out of the woods and "tare forty and 2 children of them" for calling the prophet bald head. HARSH!
My fear of water is little less laughable. Just a couple of bad experiences where both my mom and sis almost drown. Sigh... I was hoping to be able to be more comfortable with water by the time I am am forty...
I am quickly running out of time.

Anyway, here are some fun pictures of Bear Lake and I am happy to say I haven't passed on my fear of water to my kids.... now fear of bears...hmm

Finally blogging

I am so excited to finally start blogging. The reasons I haven't blogged before are:
No one wants to read about me.
I have nothing interesting to say.
I have no time to blog.
Don't know how to start.

Well, my excuses are kinda weak. I've found that I love to read what my friends have to say, so maybe they want to read about me, I can blog as little or as much as I want to. Its so easy to start, it took me 3 minutes to get set up. I am officially a blogger. Now I gotta go.
